Problem

Calculate the Born approximation to the differential cross section dσ/dΩd\sigma/d\Omega for scattering from a Yukawa potential: V(r)=βe−μrrV(r) = \beta \frac{e^{-\mu r}}{r} where β\beta and μ\mu are constants. Show that dσdΩ=(2mβℏ2)21(μ2+κ2)2\frac{d\sigma}{d\Omega} = \left(\frac{2m\beta}{\hbar^2}\right)^2 \frac{1}{(\mu^2 + \kappa^2)^2} where κ=2ksin⁡(θ/2)\kappa = 2k\sin(\theta/2). By taking μ→0\mu \to 0 with β=q1q2\beta = q_1 q_2, recover the Rutherford formula.
