Problem

In any number dd of spacetime dimensions, a Dirac field Ψα(x)\Psi_\alpha(x) carries a spin index α\alpha, and has a kinetic term of the form iΨ‾γμ∂μΨi\overline{\Psi}\gamma^\mu \partial_\mu \Psi, where we have suppressed the spin indices; the gamma matrices γμ\gamma^\mu are dimensionless, and Ψ‾=Ψ†γ0\overline{\Psi} = \Psi^\dagger \gamma^0. a) What is the mass dimension [Ψ][\Psi] of the field Ψ\Psi? b) Consider interactions of the form gn(Ψ‾Ψ)ng_n(\overline{\Psi}\Psi)^n, where n≥2n \geq 2 is an integer. What is the mass dimension [gn][g_n] of gng_n? c) Consider interactions of the form gm,nφm(Ψ‾Ψ)ng_{m,n}\varphi^m(\overline{\Psi}\Psi)^n, where φ\varphi is a scalar field, and m≥1m \geq 1 and n≥1n \geq 1 are integers. What is the mass dimension [gm,n][g_{m,n}] of gm,ng_{m,n}? d) In d=4d = 4 spacetime dimensions, which of these interactions are allowed in a renormalizable theory?
