Problem

Suppose V1n1\mathbb{V}_1^{n_1} and V2n2\mathbb{V}_2^{n_2} are two subspaces such that any element of V1\mathbb{V}_1 is orthogonal to any element of V2\mathbb{V}_2. Show that the dimensionality of V1⊕V2\mathbb{V}_1 \oplus \mathbb{V}_2 is n1+n2n_1 + n_2. (Hint: Theorem 4.)
