Problem

A triangle has sides of length (x−1)(x - 1) and (x+2)(x + 2), and angles θ\theta and 2θ2\theta, as shown in the diagram. A triangle ABCABC is shown. The side ABAB is labeled x+2x+2, the side ACAC is labeled x−1x-1, and the side BCBC is the base. The angle at vertex BB is labeled θ\theta, and the angle at vertex CC is labeled 2θ2\theta. Show that x=44−3sec⁡2(θ2)x = \frac{4}{4 - 3\sec^2\left(\frac{\theta}{2}\right)} .
