Problem

Suppose VV is finite-dimensional and v1,…,vm∈Vv_1, \ldots, v_m \in V. Define a linear map Γ ⁣:V′→Fm\Gamma\colon V' \to \mathbf{F}^m by Γ(φ)=(φ(v1),…,φ(vm))\Gamma(\varphi) = (\varphi(v_1), \ldots, \varphi(v_m)). (a) Prove that v1,…,vmv_1, \ldots, v_m spans VV if and only if Γ\Gamma is injective. (b) Prove that v1,…,vmv_1, \ldots, v_m is linearly independent if and only if Γ\Gamma is surjective.
