Problem

A copper wire is bent at right angles at point BB so that segment ABAB is 0.20 m0.20\,\text{m} long and lies along the east–west direction, while segment BCBC is 0.15 m0.15\,\text{m} long and lies along the north–south direction. The wire carries a steady current of 5 A5\,\text A from AA to CC. The entire arrangement is in a uniform magnetic field of 0.30 T0.30\,\text T directed vertically upward. Answer the following: a. (a) Calculate the magnitude of the force on segment ABAB. b. (b) Calculate the magnitude of the force on segment BCBC. c. (c) Determine the magnitude of the resultant force acting on the bent conductor ABCABC.
