Problem

Cones in R2\mathbf{R}^2. Suppose K⊆R2K \subseteq \mathbf{R}^2 is a closed convex cone. ((a)) Give a simple description of KK in terms of the polar coordinates of its elements (x=r(cos⁡ϕ,sin⁡ϕ)x = r(\cos \phi, \sin \phi) with r≥0r \geq 0). ((b)) Give a simple description of K∗K^*, and draw a plot illustrating the relation between KK and K∗K^*. ((c)) When is KK pointed? ((d)) When is KK proper (hence, defines a generalized inequality)? Draw a plot illustrating what x⪯Kyx \preceq_K y means when KK is proper.
