Problem

Consider N⊂R\mathbb{N} \subset \mathbb{R} with the standard metric. Let (X,d)(X, d) be a metric space and f:X→Nf : X \to \mathbb{N} a continuous function. a) Prove that if XX is connected, then ff is constant (the range of ff is a single value). b) Find an example where XX is disconnected and ff is not constant.
