(A) Answer the following questions about the energy terms used to describe the motion of an incompressible, non-viscous fluid flowing steadily through a pipe.
a. (i) Define the terms (a) hydrostatic head and (b) kinetic head for a moving fluid.
b. (ii) A fluid element moves from section 1 to section 2 of a horizontal pipe whose diameter gradually decreases. Explain qualitatively how the hydrostatic head and kinetic head at section 2 compare with those at section 1.
c. (iii) Justify why the sum of hydrostatic head and kinetic head remains the same for the two sections in the absence of energy losses.
