Problem

A radio–tuning section can be modelled as a series RLCRLC circuit with R=15 ΩR = 15\,\Omega, L=0.50 HL = 0.50\,\text{H} and C=2.0 μFC = 2.0\,\mu\text{F}. The r.m.s. value of the applied sinusoidal voltage is 220 V220\,\text{V}. a. (a) Calculate the resonant frequency (in hertz) of the circuit. b. (b) Determine the r.m.s. current at resonance. c. (c) Find the two angular frequencies at which the r.m.s. current falls to 12\dfrac{1}{\sqrt{2}} of its value at resonance. d. (d) Using the results of part (c), compute the bandwidth (in rad s−1^{-1}) and the quality factor QQ of the circuit.
