At an altitude h1=300km above Earth’s surface the acceleration due to gravity is g1. At another altitude h2 the acceleration is exactly one-half of g1.
a. (i) Determine the value of h2 in kilometres. Take Earth’s radius RE=6.4×106m.
b. (ii) A payload has mass 800kg. Find the difference in its weight between the two altitudes h1 and h2.
