Problem

a. A car is moving at 30 m s−130\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1} in still air where the speed of sound is 340 m s−1340\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1}. Calculate the Mach number of the car. b. Would the numerical value obtained in part (i) change if the speeds were expressed in km h−1\text{km}\,\text{h}^{-1} instead of m s−1\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1}? Justify briefly.
