Problem

Properties of dual cones. Let K∗K^* be the dual cone of a convex cone KK, as defined in (2.19). Prove the following. ((a)) K∗K^* is indeed a convex cone. ((b)) K1⊆K2K_1 \subseteq K_2 implies K2∗⊆K1∗K_2^* \subseteq K_1^*. ((c)) K∗K^* is closed. ((d)) The interior of K∗K^* is given by int K∗={y∣yTx>0 for all x∈cl K}\mathbf{int}\, K^* = \{y \mid y^T x > 0 \text{ for all } x \in \mathbf{cl}\, K\}. ((e)) If KK has nonempty interior then K∗K^* is pointed. ((f)) K∗∗K^{**} is the closure of KK. (Hence if KK is closed, K∗∗=KK^{**} = K.) ((g)) If the closure of KK is pointed then K∗K^* has nonempty interior.
