Problem

A block of mass 10 kg10\,\text{kg} rests on a rough horizontal surface where the coefficient of kinetic friction is 0.400.40. Starting from rest, the block is pulled through 6 m6\,\text{m} by a constant force of magnitude 80 N80\,\text{N} acting at an angle of 30∘30^{\circ} above the horizontal. a. (i) Determine the normal reaction acting on the block while it is being pulled. b. (ii) Calculate the work done by the applied force during the 6 m6\,\text{m} displacement. c. (iii) Find the work done by the kinetic-friction force over the same displacement. d. (iv) Using the work–energy theorem, compute the speed of the block after it has moved 6 m6\,\text{m}.
