Problem

Let TT be a tree that has at least two vertices. A branch vertex of TT means a vertex vv of TT such that deg⁡v≥3\deg v \geq 3. ((a)) Prove that if TT has kk leaves (for some k∈Nk \in \mathbb{N}), then TT has at most k−2k-2 branch vertices. ((b)) Prove that TT has two distinct leaves uu and vv such that the path from uu to vv contains at most one branch vertex.
